I had a dream the other night, in which I was attending a Hollywood party, filled with classic film stars and other Tinseltown luminaries. But their names and identities were all mixed up. I finally realized that all their names were anagrams (oh, no, not this again!).
I woke up in a cold sweat. I've tried to reconstruct my dream for you as best I can, with the anagrammed names in place of the real ones. The challenge for you is to try and figure out who they all are in real life. When you think you've got an answer, click on the name and you'll be taken to the answer box where you can type in your answer. When you're finished you can see how many you got right and look at a list of all the answers. But don't peek until you've given it a try! (The quiz requires a java-enabled browser, so if it doesn't work you can still check the answers by going here.)
Once again, my thanks to The
Internet Anagram Server for all the clever anagram ideas. Don't visit the site until you've finished the quiz, though. That would be cheating.
Okay, here's my dream:
The first thing I remember is walking into the party and being accosted by Rev. Leslie Spy, who wanted to tell me all about his role in the upcoming Hollywood marriage of Vita Bedset and Alan Return, both of whom had been married several times before. I got rid of him quickly when I saw gorgeous Tracy Rang over by the punch bowl. As I started in her direction, however, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and a man said, "I'm Myron A. Loren." It was that notorious Hollywood agent, who probably wanted to find out if I was a future star whose contract he could negotiate. I told him I was nobody and he disappeared. The original object of my search had also vanished, so I stood in the corner and looked around at all the greats and near-greats.
Shuck Rondo and Rod Daisy showed up together, of course. Barnie Perth, A Hunk, was arm-wrestling with the famous Olympic athlete-turned-actor, Jet Swim Marty. Meanwhile, I spotted Chinchilla Pear making the moves on a Roman-Born Lad who had recently made his screen debut, but whose name escaped me.
A humorous tableau played itself out in the foyer, where Dwarf Raj Coon, an Indian fellow who'd had a part in The Wizard of Oz, was trying to converse with His Majesty Tiber Khan I in English, which neither of them spoke at all well!
Ol' Roddy Hall was doing his best to translate, but having little success.
I could see that lovely ingenue Jade Manse was bored to death, but trying to appear interested in what Gopher Hurty, MBA, a young studio executive, had to say.
In the game room there was a high stakes poker game going on. I recognized horror film stars Clark Elegy and Grim Abner Ding, as well as the Native American actor known as Boar Claw. I was thinking of joining them when the entertainment began. It was the country star Ray Judd Lang, singing his latest hit song, followed by the female magician,
Arcana Lubell. However, just as Lang began to sing, a bit player named Roberta Gag began doing a drunken strip tease. And that's when I woke up.
Now I have just one question: Who were all those people? Type in your answers in the boxes below, being sure to capitalize the names correctly. Then click on "Get score" to see how well you did. You'll get a percentage of correct answers, plus a scrolling list of all the correct answers.
