Fannetastic! A Tribute to the Miraculous Anne Bancroft Lisa has been a fan of Ms. Bancroft since 1973, and has created this very comprehensive and still-growing site to show off her collection of rare photos, audio clips, and video clips, and to push to get Anne's two TV variety specials released as a package on DVD.
James Dean in Death The title aside (it conjurs up images of Jimmy in his casket), this site is a must-visit for James Dean completists, revolving around the works and collection of Warren Beath, a James Dean biographer and author of the book after which the site is named. Many interesting details about James Dean's death and the people who were involved with it.
Zita Johann An interesting tribute to the actress who appeared on Broadway in the 20s, 30s, and 40s, and had a brief film career in the 30s. Created by actress Liesl Ehardt, who is related to Ms. Johann and bears a striking resemblance to her, as demonstrated by an animated photo.
Three Monkeys Music & Movies The emphasis here is on the music, with a great selection of the kind of stuff that appeals to classic film fans, vintage artists from the 20s to the 50s, including Armstrong, Belafonte, Darin, Ellington, Holiday, Orbison and Sinatra.

Golden Radio Buffs of Maryland Run by a group of old-time-radio fans from Maryland who want to "perpetuate the drama, comedy, music, and other aspects of radio as it was in the Twenties through the Fifties: the Golden Age of Radio." Though not updated recently, the site has much to offer fans of old time radio.
Movie Wallpapers The vintage section of this free computer wallpaper site includes links to hundreds of sources for wallpapers for many of your favorite classic and not-so-classic films.

Carole Landis Online This new web site dedicated to the beautiful 1940s B-movie queen who unfortunately died at her own hand before the age of 30 includes a biography, filmography, quotes, collectibles, links list, and a fan club.
Movie Filler.com This company distributes free downloadable tickets to advanced movie screenings in Los Angeles, allowing lucky residents of that area to see movies before they are released to the general public.
Movie Parrot This brand new movie quotes site needs your classic quote submissions in order to balance out all the quotes from more recent films. You can vote for your favorites, too, which will put them on the front page.
notstarring.com If you've ever wondered which stars did NOT end up with plum roles (and why), you'll find this new site fascinating. (And you may even be able to contribute some content or verify some of the newer entries.) Includes both current and classic stars.

101 Greatest Screenplays The Writers Guild of America East and West chapters have polled their members to compile a list of the 101 greatest film screenplays of all time, with which classic film fans will be in almost total agreement. In fact, the top 40 incudes only a half dozen that don't strictly qualify as classics!
Monument Valley Tribal Park Fans of the films of John Ford will immediately recognize the photos from this online tour of Monument Valley in Arizona and Utah, since the area was used many times as the setting for classic westerns.
MoviePosterBid.com Poster and movie memorabilia collectors are invited to get in on the ground floor of this auction site which currently offers listings without listing or sales fees. You'll need to register, but after that you can offer or bid on as many items as you want.

The Peter Cushing Association The official site of the Peter Cushing Museum and Association, dedicated to the great British star of Hammer horror and fantasy films. Includes articles, fan fiction, filmography, and a collection of Cushing's artwork.
Firsties! The Actors List From the creator of "The Invisible Hand of Alan Smithee" comes this extensive list of actors' first appearances in films, credited or uncredited. The author says it's just on the site to lend legitimacy to the other "nonsense," but we know better.
Glenn Ford Salute One of the greatest living icons of classic film celebrates his 90th birthday on May 1st. This site was set up by his son Peter and producer Martin Lewis to promote the gala celebration at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
The Godfather: A Tribute to Coppola's Epic Dedicated to the Godfather Trilogy, featuring a history of the Mafia, film storylines, trivia, quotes, images, downloads, posters and merchandise.

Cinematic Slip-Ups Julie's collection of movie goofs includes mostly films from the 60s through the 90s (not update recently?), but is very entertaining nevertheless, especially for those of you who enjoy spotting these types of mistakes in films.
Highway Patrol Broderick Crawford was already an Oscar-winning movie actor when he became the burly, tough-talking star of this early TV crimefighter show, a precursor to Law and Order (or the first half, anyway). This site includes photos, sound files, vidcaps, an episode guide, articles, sources for memorabilia and videos, links to state police sites, and more.
Proud Galleries Like most galleries, its exhibitions change from time to time, but at the time this is being written, this very popular photo gallery in London was featuring a number of exhibits of interest to classic film fans, including photos by Harold Lloyd and by Emilio Lari, who was the set photographer on Raging Bull, Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet, and The Godfather, among others.
Things Found in Films From Stuart Bayens' Last Link on the Left site, here's a great collection of sites that have to do with "things" in movies, including cliches (its own special section), plus other oddball items such as bagpipes, hearses, staplers and stuttering. I don't usually link to lists of links, but I'm making an exception in this case!
Mae West Color Site As promised, this site is very colorful, and filled with items of interest to Mae West fans, including a biography, lots of photos, information about Tim Malachosky's memorabilia collection at The Hollywood History Museum, a big collection of magazine covers, and individual pages on a dozen of her best films.

Lee Remick: Anatomy of an Actress A celebration of the life and career of often underrated actress Lee Remick. Includes a collection of Lee Remick photos, a listing of career awards and credits, a biographical sketch, movie, stage and television "backstories," soundbytes and a collection of vintage articles.
The Sammy Awards Each year since 1989, Roger Hall, a respected film music historian and music preservationist chooses the winners of these film music awards, named after multiple-Oscar-winning movie lyricist Sammy Cahn (1913-1993). They were first announced on Ron Della Chiesa’s show on WGBH radio in Boston, later in newspapers, magazines and Web sites. Hall1 is the author of the reference book, A Guide to Film Music, and the editor and publisher of the Web e-zine Film Music Review.
Television Heaven A UK site dedicated to our second favorite subject, classic TV! Lots and lots of reviews of both British and American series as well as an A-Z list including shows not reviewed, plus news, obituaries, and more. Linked with two other sites related to TV and nostalgia.
"Will this year's films become classics?" Philip French's article in the March 5, 2006 Observer discusses the whole question of what today constitutes (and in the past constituted) a "classic," and expresses some attitudes similar to ours.

Ralph Bellamy 1991 Interview Dina-Marie Kulzer interviewed actor Ralph Bellamy on April 16, 1991. It may have been his last interview, since he passed away on November 29, 1991. The interview was originally published in her book Television Series Regulars of the Fifties and Sixties In Interview (McFarland Publishing - 1992).
Film Poster Archive Dale Tangeman's site, new since September 2005, features his collection of approximately 4500 posters from around the world, including U.S., Argentine, Belgium, British, Danish, French, Italian, Mexican, Polish and more.
Rosanna Schiaffino Rosanna Schiaffino is all but forgotten today, but at one time she made several films a year in the U.S. and Europe. Robin Moss of The Love Goddesses offers this comprehensive biography of the beautiful Italian star who gave it all up in the 70s.
The John Williams Web Pages The official site for the composer who worked with some of the great movie music composers of the Golden Age and who is himself one of the most honored figures in motion picture history, with 4 Oscars for Best Score, and one or more nominations almost every year out of the past 30+ years.

British Feature Film Locations "Reel Streets" is devoted to British film locations - places where films were made in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, from the 1920s to the 1980s. You'll find directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Alexander Korda, David Lean, Joseph Losey and Michael Powell mentioned here, as well as studios such as Ealing Films, J Arthur Rank, Denham, Pinewood and Elstree. A feast for the anglophile cinephile!
Celebrity Photo Home Page This very simple site consists of a list of celebrities, beginning with actors and actresses; clicking on each link brings up an autographed photo. The author is also a Buffy and Angel fan (the root URL leads to a fan site for those shows), but the actor and actress autographs are mostly classics. None are for sale, they're just for your enjoyment.
Frances Dee - A Tribute Liz Chancellor salutes one of Hollywood's almost forgotten actresses with a very through site that includes a four-page biography, annotated filmography, large photo gallery, and more, including an interesting feature detailing some of the films she didn't do.
Dorothy Janis: "She Traded Her Sarong For an Apron" This page from Ron Schuler's movie blog tells the story of a "minor silent film starlet" named Dorothy Janis, who gave up her film career while still in her teens, and who turned 94 in February 2006.
Self-Styled Siren Campaspe, of Toronto, Canada, says she has been blogging for almost a year now and her focus is almost exclusively on classic movies, give or take the occasional digression. Very occasional.

Cinemorgue If you've ever wondered if a particular actor or actress' character died in a certain movie, this is the place at which to find the answer. That there is a major spoiler alert for this site should go without saying.
Filmnummers Though I suspect this is supposed to be called Film "Numbers," the important thing is that this is a list of most of the MPAA certificate numbers assigned to films since 1934, beginning with Number 1, and continuing up to the present day (42379 as this is being written). There are a few gaps, and you are invited to email the site's creator if you can fill them in.
Great Basin Film Society A non-profit group of movie lovers from Nevada whose mission is to complement Reno's film scene with art, independent and classic films not readily available on home video.
Internet Encyclopedia Of Cinematographers Biographies and filmographies of active [and sometimes retired or deceased] international cameramen and camerawomen, with 483 entries, including personal information and films. 84 of the top 100 cinematographers are recognized, with 16 spots open for the future.
Showstopper Productions Mickey Sinardi produces a Hollywood Star Studded autograph signing show, currently located at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn in North Hollywood, California. The site has information about upcoming shows, each featuring dozens of stars from movie and television.

British Comedy Autographs Tony de Whytell has collected autographs for over 30 years, and focuses on autographs from British comedy stars. He also offers autographed photos and signed pages from dramatic stars and musical perormers, as well.
Cinema Retro The Web site for a nice-looking new print magazine devoted to classic and cult films of the 60s & 70s, written about and by the actors and filmmakers of the era. Led by writers Lee Pfeiffer and Dave Worrall. You can subscribe here and order back issues, while they last.
The Herbert Hoover Library The Movie Making section of this site for the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch, Iowa offers lots of information about the various items on exhibit, including biographies of cowbys, leading ladies, heavies, and more from the "Hollywood Cowboys" exhibit which was shown in 2003. In fact, 16 of their past exhibits are still online, and while most are not movie-related, they will be of great interest to those interested in American history.
Greenbriar Picture Shows A brand new blog (opened December 2005 on Blogspot) devoted to classic movies ("the great days of movie exhibition"), featuring rare images (not web grabs), commentary, old ads, and behind-the-scenes shots. You'll find a lot of material on each month's "page" (keep your mouse pointer on the scroll bar because it goes on forever!), much of it quite humorous. Since it's a blog, you can also make comments and read those of others.
MovieLead Web site for an industry-based search service (not an Internet retailer) for lost, rare or hard-to-find movies, movie serials, specialty videos, TV movies, miniseries, or BBC/British TV favorites. Though we haven't used this service as yet, judging from all the individual and company names listed as clients, they must do a pretty good job.

Bungalow Town Shoreham By Sea is a seaside town on the South Coast of England that at one time was thought of as "the L.A. of English [film] production." This is its rather charming story.
The Charlie Chan Family Home Otherwise known as The House on Punchbowl Hill (Chan fans will know what that means), this site contains everything you'd ever want to know about the series of films featuring the venerable Oriental detective, including a chronology, photo gallery, study materials, and more, plus a message board, chat room, news, and other community features.
The Fox Tucson Theatre The Fox Tucson Theatre is a movie palace popular from 1920 to 1945, showing films and offering occasional live entertainment. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the theater recently showed The Wizard of Oz and Casablanca, the first time films had been played there in 31 years.
Movies & Movies Just launched last May, Movies & Movies allows you to download and view classic movies, TV shows and other filmed entertainment for a small fee (usually $4.99).
New Film Books If you love books about movies, you'll find a lot to like on this site, which focuses primarily on the "Film Index" series from Australian writer John Howard Reid and how you can order them.

Horror Classic Films Although this is a fairly new site, it already offers a lot to horror film fans, including an encyclopedia of actors and directors, news, reviews, links, top 20 lists, and more. You can also register and contribute to the site or post on the message boards.
MPI Home Video With over 2000 home video titles in its collection, including popular documentaries, movies and TV programs, MPI Home Video is part of the MPI Media Group, an independent producer and distributor of movies, home video and music headquartered in Chicago. MPI also owns the WPA Film Library, holding one of the largest collections of vintage and contemporary footage in the world.
The Old Movie Maven Virginia has been blogging, mostly about the movies, since June, 2004. She says she has "lots of stories to tell about Old Hollywood - from Frankenstein and Dracula to Shirley Temple!" She has a particular interest in Charlie Chan. Judging from her reviews, she's definitely a lover of the classics, and her blog is worth reading.
Save the Historic RKO Keith's Theater Sign a petition to help save and restore the former RKO Keith's Theater in Flushing, Queens, New York. Learn more about the theatre and the current controversy at Cinema Treasures. (You may need to scroll to the right once you get there.) Worth a few minutes of your time if you love old theatres.
TCM Movie Database Some competition for the Internet Movie Database and the All-Movie Guide from the world's leading classic film TV network. They're still just getting started (and could use some more contributions from viewers, judging by the fact that they only have 5 so far!), but check it out and see what you think.

20th Century Fox Film Musicals A long one-page review of the great musicals from 20th Century Fox, along with another page containing a listing of some of the major stars who appeared in them, from a site called Silver Clover, created by Martin Marshall.
The Barracks Wall: World War II Pinups A fantastic collection of pinup photos from the Second World War, part of a site called "Skylighters: The Story of the 225th AAA Searchlight Battalion from Omaha Beach to V-E Day." WWII buffs will enjoy the rest of the site, too.
The Family Guide to Classic Movies Web site for a guide book to over 500 classic films that can be enjoyed by families together (young and old alike). The book was awarded the Recommended Seal by the Parents Choice Foundation, and has received excellent reviews from both film critics and family experts. (This site was previously listed here and is being re-listed this week.)
Free Movies Entertainment Magazine A collection of public domain films that you can download free is the centerpiece of this site which offers free music download and links to other freebies.
Mitzi Gaynor, from The Love Goddesses A long one-page biography with photos of actress and dancer Mitzi Gaynor, newly offered by The Love Goddesses, a site celebrating movie actresses "who used the pin-up system between 1945 and 1975 to further their careers."

Englewood Entertainment A relatively small but excellent collection of hard-to-find movies on VHS and/or DVD, focusing primarily on sci-fi, horror, noir, cult and B movies, from this Kansas-based seller. They are not a public domain distributor, and carry only legally licensed movies.
The Heustess Family Website Most of this site, put together by Mack Heustess of South Carolina, is dedicated to The Little Rascals, with a nice photo gallery (including some animations), plus selections of streaming clips, eight complete episodes, sound bytes, and music from the films.
Oakridge Hobbies: Jigsaw Puzzles Scroll down this page to find several jigsaw puzzles made from the Legends of the Silver Screen paintings featuring Marilyn, James Dean, Bogie and more. Great gifts for movie fans.

Loews Theatre Web page for Friends of The Loews, a group working to restore the landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre as a not-for-profit arts and entertainment center. Take the Virtual Tour to learn the history of this cathedral-like classic movie venue.
Navarro's Silent Film Guide All about the book by 74-year-old Dan Navarro, silent film fan extraordinaire, an illustrated directory listing and descriptions of over 10,000 silent feature films produced in the USA during the silent era.
RalphDeLuca.com Ralph DeLuca describes himself as the "movie memorabilia guy wearing the white hat." He has been buying collectible posters and photos for cash for the past ten years, and says he spends a million dollars a year. History for Sale Purchase historical documents, autographs and manuscripts from every conceivable field of endeavor, signed by history’s greats, from a collection based on 38 years of founder Todd M. Axelrod’s efforts. An authority in the field, he is also the author of several books on the subject.
Kiddiematinee.com Devoted to the golden age of children's cinema, including feature films and short subjects shown theatrically between 1930 and 1985. Their goal is to create a database of fantasies, fairy tales and adventures from this period, which happens to be the prime timeline for this site as well!
Laurel & Hardy and Charlie Chaplin A. J. Marriot's site consists of two sections: one deals with all Chaplin's stage work before he went into films, and the other with Laurel & Hardy's British stage tours which took place after they quit making films. Lots of photos and great archival information.

Curioshop Dr. Friedrich Zettl of Vienna, Austria has put together this nice collection of autographed photos of classic film stars offered by Curioshop at Ruby Lane, part of a group of independent shops who offer antiques, collectibles, fine art, jewelry and handcrafted items from around the world.
Movie Vaudeville Brian Barnes' business, he says, is an outgrowth of his life as a professional musician who liked putting on film and music shows in Minneapolis. A typical show might consist of a classic cartoon and an episode of Flash Gordon and Captain Kidd, or a music show with a French theme -- accordion swing, followed by José Ferrer's Cyrano. Their database reviews over 500,000 poster price entries previously seen in the annual printed Almanac volumes. Also featuring news, auction, and restoration info, plus a listing of the all-time highest prices for auctioned posters.
Princeton Record Exchange Web site for the New Jersey-based buyer and seller of new and used CDs, DVDs, LPs, and more. They’ll buy your items, as well, and list many of their prices on the site. However, due to the constantly changing nature of their stock (160,000+ items), they don’t list their inventory, so you’ll have to write, call, or go to New Jersey!

Deep Discount DVD.com This link will take you directly to the "classics" section of this online discount DVD source, but be sure to check out the other areas of this very extensive site, especially if you're looking for rare items that are not necessarily classic Hollywood movies. They even offer a "pay later" option if your credit is good!
International Historic Films The focus here is on the military, political, and social history of the 20th century, and they offer documentaries as well as theatrical films. A particularly valuable source if you're a history buff.
Rare Video.com - The Video Den Collection For the "serious collector" only, this company offers original VHS prerecorded video, DVD and laser discs (not copies) of everything from art house and international cinema to cult flicks and erotica. They also deal in original theatrical movie posters and Hollywood memorabilia.
Super Happy Fun While the title sounds like an oriental gift store, this is actually a great source for DVD copies of out-of-print films, with an emphasis on foreign films. They are very honest about the quality of the products, and even rate them from 4-10 (nothing below a 4 is sold).
Video Addicts Admitting that they're running a "dungeon of the video addicts' nightmares," the folks here make no bones about feeding your habit if you're truly a rabid collector. A large selection of hard-to-find stuff - including adult videos, so be forewarned if you're easily offended.

Calendar Club This link will take you to the Classic Film Stars page of this UK calendar site, but of course they have much more than that, including pets, kids, humor, and so forth, drawn from a variety of sources. There are over 2,000 new titles in stock, plus desk calendars and diaries.
