Q. Was "Gone With the Wind" really the most popular film of all time?

A. Yes, in just about any way you look at it. It's the highest grossing film of all time in the United States, adjusted for inflation. At today's rate, it would have taken in over a billion dollars. "Star Wars" would be second. It is also the most popular movie of all times in terms of the number of total admissions, even though when the film was first released, there were only half as many people alive in the United States as there are today.
