A great collection of sites, several of them chosen as Best of the Net, that cover a wide variety of topics in the field of classic cinema. Listed alphabetically, in two groups. The first bunch are either Best of the Net sites or just favorites of mine.
Class Act: Those Golden Movie Musicals
An ambitious site by Jim Johnson (The Judy Garland Database, a Best of the Net site) and Ted Nesi (Ted's Lucille Ball Page) featuring tributes to the actors, actresses, musicals, and songs of the Golden Age.

Donna Moore's home page includes links to her tributes to Cary Grant, Irene Dunne, Myrna Loy, Asta, and Bette Davis, as well as to screwball comedy and magazine ads from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Most of these pages are also listed individually on my site.
The Greatest Films Best of the Net
Tim Dirks' amazing site features plot synopses of 100 great films, plus a listing of even more movies by year, with summaries of the film history of each decade. Plus many other related features for the true film buff.
The Palace Best of the Net
An all-purpose resource for fans of the classic films of Hollywood's Golden Age. Lovingly done and endlessly interesting.
The Ravin' Maven of Classic Film Best of the Net
Julie Stowe has created one of the nicest-looking and most entertaining collections of classic tributes, including stars such as William Powell, Lauren Bacall, James Cagney, Spencer Tracy, Fred Astaire, and Charles Boyer. This link will take you past the great splash page, but click on "Catseye Opening" to experience it.
Reel Classics Best of the Net
A very attractive site, filled with photos, information, and Elizabeth's take on some of the greatest actors, actresses, and movies of the classic era. A Best of the Net winner that also finished first in our Favorite Classic Movies Web Site poll.
Alan's Movie Haven
This site has been around for a while, and we've already linked to several of its sections, including Alan's "Decades in Film" and Oscar reviews.
Arabella & Co.
Dedicated "to the legendary stars of cinema’s golden age," Arabella's very nice site offers an excellent group of articles, including a series of tributes to stars including Tyrone Power, Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy, James Cagney, Ingrid Bergman, Robert Mitchum, and Barbara Stanwyck, presented as an online magazine.

With a goal of developing the best, black themed movie web site on the internet, co-publishers Laurence Washington and Jim Stevens have created an extensive site which includes news, reviews, articles, and more, encompassing both new films and classics created by African Americans.
Box Office Guru
Gitesh Pandya's five-year-old site focuses on boxoffice receipts from current films, but also contains a lot of other information about the financial aspects of film success, including a database going back to 1989 and a list of all-time boxoffice champs (not adjusted for inflation).
Bwaanaman's World
Not only is Roar Skaug Larssen an excellent and tasteful Web designer, but he has great taste in actresses, as you will see from his tributes to Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth and Brigitte Bardot. You'll also find sections on Pin-ups, 50s nostalgia, and much more. A wonderful discovery.
Cinema Sites
A very extensive, no-nonsense listing of selected movie-related sites. Not all of them are classic movie sites, but the site is light on graphics and therefore quite fast-loading.
Classic Celluloid
There's an awful lot of interesting material on this site, including reviews, biographies, and special sections on British Film and silent movies. Not sure the site has been updated recently, but what's there is first-rate, especially if you're a fan of Buster Keaton, Ben Turpin, and other early greats.
Classic Film and Television
Detroiter Michael Grost refers to his extensive, text-only site as "an educational site containing reviews and articles about films and television, and articles on their writers, directors and photographers." There's plenty of fascinating information here for both scholars and casual enthusiasts.
Classic Film Guide
This site starts right out with a discussion of what constitutes a "classic" film (a topic we deal with all the time) and then continues with short reviews of classic films (with a special emphasis on Hitchcock), essays, lists of essential and "obscure" films, a guide to the best of TCM programming, and more. Short on graphics, but highly recommended.
Classic Films
Andy York's site includes pages for his favorite classic films, stars and directors, his lists of favorites, and links to other movie sites. Very impressive for somebody who was born well after the classic era was over!
Classic Hollywood
A collection of actor, actress, and film profiles and a nice movie sounds page, plus a tough quiz and a page on the Irish Mafia Boy's Club.
Classic Images
Lavenderrose, otherwise known as Kristen, is a young lady with great taste in movies, who has put together a very nice-looking site which includes all kinds of tributes to classic stars and films, plus her list of 100 favorite films. Not updated recently, however.
Classic Movie Stars
Courtney's site is not actually a new one, but it is one I lost track of for some time when it changed locations. It has just recently been completely redone, so is worth revisiting to see her many tributes to classic actors, actresses, and films, as well as pages with stars' addresses and stories about scandals and suspicious deaths.
Dark Hollywood.com
Dedicated to "the craft of the old masters," this site offers a directory of the great actors and actresses of the old days, as well as an extensive listing of films, all with a photo, brief information, and links to the IMDb. There are also special sections on Hitchcock films and horror movies, plus a tough quiz.

This pictorial tribute to Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Gene Kelly, created by Traci Martin, also includes pages on Charade and Singin' in the Rain.
Dr. Daniel's Movie Emergency
If you can't have fun here, you have a broken funnybone. Dr. Daniel can probably set it for you. Not currently being updated, but the archives are still there.
For the Love of Film - You'll find a little of this and a little of that on this site devoted to old movies. Including tributes to Katharine Hepburn, Hedy Lamarr, Marlon Brando, and Fred Astaire, plus some reviews, wallpapers, little-known facts, and lists of movie star name changes and top-grossing films.

A very nice personal page with a collection of galleries featuring photos of classic Hollywood actors and actresses, film stills, movie posters, and images from French cinema, plus a "did you know" page.
International Film & Video Center
IFVC was created to celebrate the art of cinema from all over the world, and is considered one of the world's most comprehensive video libraries. IFVC also produces feature and documentary films. You'll be particularly interested in the extensive film database, the listing of "quintessential films," and the directory of worldwide film festivals.
Jeeem's Cinepad
We've linked to several sections of this site, but neglected until now to add the main page to our listings. Jim Emerson may say his site is under construction (what site isn't?), but there's still plenty of great stuff here, including reviews, essays, tributes, and even a section on plumbing in the movies.
Kiddiematinee.com
Devoted to the golden age of children's cinema, including feature films and short subjects shown theatrically between 1930 and 1985. Their goal is to create a database of fantasies, fairy tales and adventures from this period, which happens to be the prime timeline for this site as well!
King Spud's Movie & TV Pages
The King of the Couch Potatoes offers his lists of top films and his views on the AFI lists (he doesn't agree with them), portraits of great character actors, news, obituaries, quizzes, and a lot more. A true movie fan's home page.
Leonard Maltin's Movie Crazy
Though you might expect this site to be filled with current movie reviews (look for those under Leonard's Picks), it's actually filled with essays, photos, and suggested links, mostly on classic film topics. There's also an opportunity to subscribe to Maltin's print newsletter. A friendly place for classic fans; the man clearly loves movies!
Norbert's Favorite Movies
Austrian Norbert Wohnl offers individual pages with reviews, star and director bios, and quotes from his favorite films, including classics such as A Star is Born, Vertigo, The Palm Beach Story, and The African Queen.
The Picture Show Man
Ken Robichaux launched his site in November, 2004, with the goal of doing something similar to what this site has been trying to do for about eight years -- provide a resource for fans of vintage films. So far he's doing a great job, creating a nice-looking venue with an extensive historical timeline, articles, a Q&A section, film recommendation, a festivals and events listing, and a section on movie cliches.
ReelJewels.com
Ginny Sayre's site is filled with heartfelt and detailed tributes to classic actors and actresses, including Judy Garland, Jane Powell, Nelson Eddy, Don Ameche, and more, as well as teams like Hope & Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. Plus message boards, streaming video, and other goodies.
Short Sighted!
I have several links to individual sections of Patrick Picking's classic film site, but for some reason have never linked to his home page. That oversight has been rectified. Enjoy his articles on Judy Garland, Laurel & Hardy, Harold Lloyd, and others, as well as his yearly coverage of Cinefest.
