Classic Movies

Movies A-F

A listing of the best Web sites devoted to the greatest classic movies and series of all time, alphabetical from A through F.

Angelique
Despite the worldwide popularity of the Angelique books, the movies were never released in English. Here's where you can learn more about them from a serious fan.

Being There (1979)
Subtitled "Life is a state of mind," this site includes sounds, reviews, photo gallery, a script, and more. Part of a three-film tribute to 70s satires which also includes M*A*S*H and The Graduate.

The Blade Runner Page
It's been redesigned since the first time I visited, and is much easier on the eyes. Contains an extensive FAQ section, news, resources, links, quotes, scripts and everything else about the groundbreaking sci-fi flick starring Harrison Ford as the cynical "replicant" hunter.

Blondie's Page
Blair Whipple's site contains everything you ever wanted to know about the 28-film series that appeared from 1938 to 1950, including an annotated listing of all the films, pages for the actors, a photo gallery, and other special features.

Blondie - The Movie Series
A site by Clayton Self, dedicated to the classic comedy movies based on the popular comic strip and starring Arthur Lake and Penny Singleton.

The Blues Brothers (1980)
This site by North Carolina's Brian Wilson now contains sound files, photos, song lyrics, and links.

Blues Brothers FAQ (1980)
Glen Pringle's "everything you wanted to know" page about the Aykroyd/Belushi comedy. It's not much to look at, but you shouldn't have any more questions when you're finished with it.

The James Bond Films
A chronological listing of all the Bond films, with brief synopses, posters, and cast listings, from the first TV-movie version of Casino Royale in 1954 to Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997. From Sandcastle, V.I.

Bonnie & Clyde, the Notorious Barrow Gang
This site has been greatly expanded for the 70th anniversary of the outlaw couple, and now includes a variety of articles, links, and other material not necessarily related to the film itself.

The Breakfast at Tiffany's Homepage
Matthew's site contains sections on the novel, the film, and the soundtrack, all of which are notable in their own right.

Casablanca
Web sites devoted to Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

The Charlie Chan Family Home
Otherwise known as The House on Punchbowl Hill (Chan fans will know what that means), this site contains everything you'd ever want to know about the series of films featuring the venerably Oriental detective, including a chronology, photo gallery, study materials, and more, plus a message board, chat room, news, and other community features.

Cheaper By The Dozen (1950)
Everything you ever wanted to know about the amusing Clifton Webb/Myrna Loy/Jeanne Crain movie, with links to pages devoted to all the stars of the film. A Ron Hunt site that has not been updated in a while.

A Christmas Story (1983)
Sound files from this wonderfully entertaining Christmas film, plus links to other Christmas Story sites, including a tribute to author Jean Shepherd.

The Movie Pal Photo Gallery of Citizen Kane (1941)
A collection of photographs from Citizen Kane, as advertised.

Citizen Kane
Warner Brothers' site celebrated the first release of the film on DVD in 2001, with background information on the movie, a collection of stills, and a "sneak peak" of the DVD.

Gort!
If the name doesn't ring a bell, you haven't seen The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951). Here's everything you need to know, short of the movie itself -- which might be an anticlimax after this site!

The Deer Hunter
David Landers' tribute to the 1978 Michael Cimino Vietnam War film includes a little bit of everything, including graphics, sound files, essays, discussion board, and links to other sites.

Destry Rides Again (1939)
A nice review of the Jimmy Stewart/Marlene Dietrich western, from Boomer of Jake and Boomer's Silver Screen Homepage.

Dirty Harry Official Site
Warner Home Video's site was created in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the original "Dirty Harry," and the release of The Dirty Harry Collection on DVD in 2001. It offers streaming video, including an interview with Eastwood, the original movie trailer, a photo gallery and discussion boards.

The Divorcee (1929)
A pair of nice reviews of the Norma Shearer vehicle from Boomer & Jake. Part of their Silver Screen Homepage.

70 Years of Dracula
Bob Bankard has begun what he hopes will be the "definitive site" on Dracula, in preparation for Halloween 2001, the 70th anniversary of Universal's "Dracula." There are presently nearly 30 pages of original content, including a history of the Dracula's creation as well as reviews of the various film versions.

Ladies of The Evil Dead
I created this site for the three women who appeared in the first "Evil Dead" film back in 1979, and who've waited all this time to begin making public appearances. If you're a fan of the film and the series, you'll enjoy some of the never-before-heard stories.

An Interview With a Star of The Evil Dead
I talked at length with Ellen Sandweiss, who played Cheryl in Sam Raimi's groundbreaking The Evil Dead (1982), about her experiences making the film.

The Exorcist Directory
Dedicated to the groundbreaking 1973 horror movie based on the novel by William Peter Blatty. Lots of information about the film, plus sound files, forum, chat room, etc.
