Classic Movies

Movies G-L

A listing of the best Web sites devoted to the greatest classic movies and series of all time, alphabetical from G through L.

Genevieve
(1953) Colorful tribute to this classic British comedy (currently unavailable in the U.S.), starring Dinah Sheridan, John Gregson, Kay Kendall, and Kenneth More. Special attention is given to the car featured in the film and the race in which it participated.

The Godfather: A Tribute to Coppola's Epic
Dedicated to the Godfather Trilogy, featuring a history of the Mafia, film storylines, trivia, quotes, images, downloads, posters and merchandise.

The Godfather Trilogy
A beautifully-designed Web site with over 100 pages of content about the great mafia film saga.

Barry's Temple of Godzilla
Get stomped at Barry's Temple of Godzilla, and find out all about Godzilla movies and more.

Gone With the Wind Tributes
A tribute to the favorite film in history, updated on the 60th anniversary of its release in the United States. With links to all the best tribute sites.

The Graduate, A Film of Dreams
A great deal has been written about this seminal 1967 Mike Nichols film, and you can find much of it on this comprehensive site. Part of a three-film tribute to 70s satires which also includes M*A*S*H and Being There.

Greed 75th Anniversary Construction
New information has been added to Michael Mills' Greed site focusing on TCM's reconstruction of the 4-hour version of Erich Von Stroheim's masterpiece. Read Michael's review of the finished product, which he calls "the best American motion picture of the last 75 years."

The Harold and Maude Home Page
Mike Sullivan calls it a "collection of Harold and Maude stuff," but it's a bit more than that. The trivia page alone is worth the visit.

I Walked With A Zombie (1943)
An in-depth overview of the classic Val Lewton-produced RKO horror film, which the author says was actually a re-working of Jane Eyre. Part of Erik Weems' Cinema-Graphe site.

Invaders From Mars (1953)
A tribute to the sci-fi cult classic starring child actor Jimmy Hunt, plus information about the 1986 remake. A Ron Hunt site that hasn't been updated in some time.

It Happened on Fifth Avenue
I have probably received more questions about this film over the years than any other (except perhaps for The High and the Mighty). People see it, love it, but either can't remember the title or can't find it on video, or both. If you're one of those people, this site is for you. It's hard to believe somebody hasn't finally released this movie on video this year, since it has almost achieved cult status among classic fans!

It's a Wonderful Life Mailing List
Here's the new home of the mailing list started by Karen Pecnik and now run by Karen Lopez.

It's a Wonderful Life Web Ring
A whole group of sites and single pages devoted to the great Capra film.

JawsMovie.com (1975)
Just when you thought it was safe to go on the Internet... (Couldn't resist the joke, or the site.) Described as "the leading Jaws resource since 1995," this site indeed has a lot of information and resources relating to Steven Speilberg's horror film.

Johnny Guitar
Joan Crawford's 1954 Republic Pictures' film is the subject of this handsome tribute, including sounds, images, and news. The home of the Johnny Guitar Society.

Lolita (1952)
Before you see the remake, be sure to check out the original Kubrick film starring James Mason; but first visit this review from Tim Dirks' Greatest Films site.
