The American Film Institute
A national institute providing leadership in screen education and the celebration of excellence in film, television and digital media, AFI trains filmmakers, maintains America's film heritage through the AFI Catalog of Feature Films and explores new digital technologies in entertainment and education. AFI On Screen is the largest nonprofit exhibitor in the US. The AFI Awards honors outstanding motion pictures and television programs each year, while AFI'S Life Achievement Award has become the highest honor for a career in film.

The British Film Institute
Home of the UK's national agency with the responsibility for encouraging the art of film. There are more online resources to come, but check out what's there now and bookmark the site for future reference.

Kennedy Center Honors
Home page of the annual gala honoring actors, actresses, and other artists.

The Library of Congress Motion Picture and Television Reading Room
They've been collecting stuff since 1893, but you'll have to go there to see it. In the meantime, this site offers a listing of what's in the collection, plus information about location, hours, phone & fax numbers, plus guidelines for viewing images and doing research.

Motion Picture Association of America
Official Home of the MPAA includes information about the organization and its goals, movie ratings, parental guidelines, and more.

National Film Preservation Board
Web site for group whose tasks include advising the Librarian of Congress on the selection of films to the National Film Registry. Includes a list of the 250 films currently in the Registry and an email address if you'd like to suggest future additions.
